Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Rally mower starting problem, missing teeth, model numbers

Question
I have a 42 in. Rally riding mower and when I turn the ignition key on, the starter just spins.  What does this sound like?

Answer
Hello Ronald:

If I Understand the Question Correctly, Remove the Starter Drive Cover or the Starter (Depends on Model) and Check the Starter Drive Gear for Cracks and Missing Teeth. Check the Starter Ring on the Flywheel for Missing Teeth. If the Starter Drive is Good and the Gear is Not Jumping Up and Engaging the Flywheel, then Lubricate the Drive Gear And Shaft. Dust and Dirt May have the Gear Stuck to the Shaft. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
