Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh Model LEV no start/no crank, tecumseh engine, new spark

Question
John - I have a Model LEV 100 3.8 HP Tecumseh engine for a pushmower.  It won't start/crank.  My neighbor (who is more mechanically inclined) tried to generate a spark by holding the plug against the case - no spark.  There are additional numbers on the plate after the model #:  335027E (B).  I put in a brand new spark plug and replaced the oil.  It ran 3 weeks ago but it has become progressively more difficult to start.  Recommendations?

Answer
Hello Marty:

Check the Shut Off Wire to the Coil for Grounding Between the Cut Off Connection and the Coil. If the Wire is Good, then Replace the Coil/Electronic Ignition. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the B. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers LEV100-335027E.  Then Select Download File. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have 2 PDF Site Addys that May Assist and Interest to you. They are, 1- http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf and 2- http://www.cpdonline.com/692509.pdf Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
