Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman w/ Kohler 15.5 will not stay running, craftsman 917, w kohler

Question
QUESTION: I have a Craftsman 917.271060 with a Kohler 15.5hp. Last year I was mowing and the engine would stop in the middle of mowing. Sometimes it was 5 minutes and sometimes 15-20 minutes into my mowing. I tried putting a new fuel filter on but no luck. I swapped the seat switch with a switch from my other (older) craftsman. When I did that it would run a little while but when you let off the break it would die, it would not run. I switched to the old seat switch and now I can not get it to start. I am out of ideas, any help would be appreciated.
ANSWER: Sounds like a coil to me.

disconect the tractor from the engine, usually a white wire connected to the gov control bracket. If still no spark replace the coil.

QUESTION: I am not the greatest at mower repair so I will ask the silly question. Where is the gov control bracket generally located or what does it look like? And last but not least where is the coil located? Thank You for you help

Answer
THE GOV CONTROL IS THE PLATE YOUR THROTTLE CABLE ATTACHES TO.
MAKE IT EASIER, DISCONNECT EVERY WIRE GOING TO THE ENGINE EXCEPT THOSE ON THE STARTER.
TRY IT NOW, IF NO SPARK AT PLUG REPLACE THE COIL, IT'S UNDER THE FAN SHROUD RIGHT AGAINST THE FLYWHEEL, THE SPARK PLUG WIRE IS ATTACHED TO IT.
SORRY TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS MY FRIEND, YOU ARE IN WAY OVER YOUR HEAD.
