Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Adjusting brake doesnt work, assembly drawings, adjustment nut

Question
QUESTION: Hi John,
I have a Toro riding mower model 56150 (8HP-32" deck) but its brake doesn't work well. I adjust it as manual instruction, but if I tighten the locknut too tight, the mower couldn't move. But if I loose it the brake doesn't work. I already replaced 2 new small brake pads but it won't help. Please advise what I should check next.
Thanks for your help
ANSWER:   Hello Huy:

Can you Send me the Serial Numbers, Please. With these Numbers I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. There can be a Linkage Worn that is Causing the Adjustment to do this. Usually you will Tighten the Adjuster Until SNUG. If you have Tightened the Nut Properly, you Don't have to Loosen the Adjustment Nut at All. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

QUESTION: Thanks, Here is the serial number 8002381. I'm not sure how to check the "Linkage worn". I just open the brake and replace the 2 brake pad and install all back. First driving (around 1 hour) seems to be fine but the second driving the brake doesn't work any more.
Again, thanks for your help

Answer
 Hello Again Huy:

If you Installed the Brake Pads Correctly, then Check for Slop(wear) at All the Linkage Connection Points. Start at the Pedal and Work you Way to the Brake Assembly on the Transaxle. The Amount of Wear in the Linkage will Effect the Brake Adjustment on the Transaxle. You can View a Breakdown/IPL at this Addy https://lookup2.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select the Model with the Correct Serial Numbers and Click the View Assembly Drawings. Then Select the Section of the Mower you wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
