Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): KOHLER with carburetor problems, sears craftsman riding mower, craftsman riding mower

Question
QUESTION: I have bought an Sears Craftsman riding mower with a Kohler 16.5 model cv16s, the model of mower 917271110, the fuel solenoid, went out would not allow fuel to carb. I don't have the money for another one,its a 100.00. i was told to remove it and place a bolt in its place. and it would run, i put the carb back on the engine it fired up up for about 30sec. the died, and will not crank, by its self, i can spray fuel into the carb manually and it will run and fire up. do i need   to clean out the carb or bowl? if so how? I know i should by the fuel solenoid. but don't have the money to tie up. with the carb off i can barley blow through the fuel intake hole, i can but its slow. i plugged the hole with a bolt. please give any info on getting it running . at that point i will buy a fuel solenoid for it. thank you very much
ANSWER:   Hello Bradley:

Replacing the Fuel Shut Off Solenoid with a Bolt will Allow the Carburetor to Operate Properly. If the Bolt you Replaced the Solenoid with is too Long it will Keep the Carburetor from Working. Is the Bolt about 1/2' to 3/4' Long and No Longer? If Yes, then Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner. Then Blow out the Passages with Compressed Air and Install New Kit. Send me the Model Numbers (All) Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
