Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 917-272672 blades wont engage, craftsman 917, sway bar

Question
Late last year, blades would only engage after a few moments and would not completely disengage. Cable pulls freely. Spring appears to have good tension. However, it looks like there may be an assembly that slides back when pulled. I'm not exactly sure of the best way to gain access. Pulling off the top chassis or attempting to drop the whole blade carriage.
Thanks in advance.

Answer
 Hello Mark:

Go to this Addy http://www3.sears.com/ and Select the Lawn Equipment Box. Then Enter the Model Numbers and Click Continue. Then Verify the Unit and Click Continue. From this Page you can View Diagrams or Parts Lists. The Deck is the Easiest to Remove. On the Diagram for the Lift Assy you can See the Clips #s 13 and 20. Lower the Deck to its Lowest Position and then Remove these Clips. Remove the Belt from the Engine Pulley and Disconnect the Blade Engagement Connection. At the Back of the Deck and On top of the Deck Should be a Connection to Pull the Clips from Also. I Believe the Whole Sway Bar should be Removed. Check the Part #55 on the Deck Diagram First. The Bolt May be Rusted and Binding. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
