Hi Eric,

I recently asked a question about my snow thrower and I was hoping you might be able to help me with my Tractor.  I have problems starting the tractor when I turn the key.  The only way that the tractor will start is if I turn the key and then tap on the side of the tractor hood with the palm of my hand.  I'm not sure if a wire is loose or if it is something else such as the starter gears.  Please let me know if you can assist me with troubleshooting.

COOL!!  I had a TV with a similar problem.

I would suspect an electrical problem.  Have you used a flashlight to examine the wires and switches?  While performing the examination, you should dis-connect and re-connect the push-on/pull-off type connectors.
How hard do you have to hit the hood?
