Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 1984 riding mower, clucth, rearend

Question
i have a 1984 wizard riding mower with peerless rearend and trans 5forwar and reverse.lately its very hard to change gears, like the clucth is not releasing is there a way to adjust the clutch or must i do something different.thanks

Answer
this a belt drive to rear end system. there is an idler pulley which  tightens up belt when peddle is released.  your belt may be bad, riding too far down in pulley groves. check into that.  and maybe idler pulley is tight.  your troubble is in this area.
