Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Armature removal, briggs stratton, homelite generator

Question
I have a Homelite generator that had been consuming about a quart of oil per five gallons of fuel used.  After removing the head, I discovered that the cylinder has what appears to be a honing defect in the last 20mm of the piston travel before TDC.  I wanted to remove the rings, hone the cylinder and hopefully clean it up before going oversize on the piston.  Problem is I cannot get the generators armature off of the crankshaft.  I understand that there is some sort of special tool to screw into the existing through bolt hole on the armature, but cannot locate one.  I've attempted to remove it via a slide hammer along with a ten pound weight without any success.  I'm really ready to scrap the whole thing but felt that it was worth the effort of asking your advise.  The following is all of the information I could find on the generator/motor:
Homelite/Textron Model # LRIE4400  UT 03789  SER # HQ0530003  Briggs & Stratton 8 HP Industrial Plus Engine Model # 196417  Type 0172 01  Code 9412191B
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
 Hello Ray:

A Puller is Attached to the Armature and After Pressure is Applied to the Puller; Hit the Puller and the Armature should Jump Off the Shaft. The Armature is on a Tapered Fit. I Tried Slide Hammers and Other Means of Removing the Armatures from Generators and the Puller Works the Best. Even the Special Bolt Doesn't work as Well as a Puller. I have Designed Several Pullers Just for Armature Removal. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Generator at this Addy http://www.homelite.com/parts/index.htm and Click Go to Homelite Parts Store. Then Enter the Model Numbers LRIE4400. Then Double Click on your Model in the Search Results Area. Then Select Generator End. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
