Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs engine 16.5, head bolts, head gasket

Question
I have a Ace hardware Lawn mower and it smokes real bad and I took the head off and the gasket was blowed across is this very usual. Thanks

 Hello Greg:

 Depending on the Number of Operating Hours on this Engine, it is Possible for the Head Gasket to Just Blow. If this Becomes a Constant Problem, then Replace the Head Bolts. I have had Several Engines in the Shop that the Head Bolts had to be Replaced because they Kept Stretching Until they would Allow the Head Gasket to Blow or the Bolts Would Start Breaking.
