Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Murray ride on mower 8/30 - not running, safety switch, mark smith

Murray 8/30, Model No 9-30502x20. D of M 0689. I found my husband starting this with pair of pliers! So told him, we ought to get it new parts! We bought new solenoid - larger than the original one, but my husband assured me didn't matter! - Wouldn't start! Bought new ignition switch (this time I got the right one!) - Still wont start! Husband has now been fiddling with the wiring - trying to bypass the cut off switch! DEFINITELY wont start now! Can't find anywhere to find proper spares or manual for it,since don't think they are made any more? and am really cross with husband! He is cross with me, since he reckoned it was starting fine with pliers! Please help - divorce in offing!!

 Hello Joy:

 The Cause of the problem is the Clutch Safety Switch. Have your Husband Jumper this Switch and the Solenoid should Start Working. I'm have Sent a Request to Briggs and they take 72 Hrs to Respond. However you can Contact Mark Smith at Briggs @ 414-259-5333 ext 8382. He is the Murray Tech. If Anyone can Locate the Manual/Illustrated Parts List for this Mower, He can. Hope this Helps.
