Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman lawnmower wont stay running, carburator, code numbers

Hi,
I have a 11 hp craftsman riding lawnmower (model no. 917.254273) and it hasn't been actually used in about 1/2 yrs.  I got her a new battery, spark plug, and filled her up w/ gas but all she did was wine.  i pulled off the air filter and poured some gas in the carb chamber and she fired right up but wont stay running.  i have the carb completely off right now.  Any suggestions?

 Hello Casey:

 Disassemble the Carburator and Soak it in Cleaning Solution to Remove the Varnish and Trash that is Inside the Carburator. Blow All Passages Out with Compressed Air and Rebuild. Send me the Make, Model, Type and Code Numbers Off of the Engine and I May be Able to Locate a Breakdown that will Assist you in this Repair. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.
