Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Eager1 6.25 mower 143.006200, kill switch, craftsman

Question
I'm working on this mower and have replaced the coil because the spark wire was damaged on the other. Mower ran once after coil was in and set to .012 clearance, but will not start again. I see no eveidence of spark holding plug against block while pulling rope. I know new stuff can go bad, but want to be sure befoe I buy another coil. Also is the .012 at the coil frame to the mag or the coil tip itself? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Ray,

The .012" gap should be set between the coil tips and the flywheel.  Check the safety kill switch, if equipped and double check the coil wiring.  If still no spark, yes, the new coil may be bad.

Let me know how you make out.
