Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tacumseh throttle bounces, internal passages, full tilt

Question
My Craftsman snowblower worked well all season until a week ago when it seemed to be underpowered during a storm. I took the cover off and witnessed the trottle, when at full tilt, bounces around quite a bit and the internal lever won't stay all the way forward. Is there a spring missing? Did another fastener wear out? Thanks for the advice. Matt

Answer
If you think something is missing, you will need to take the numbers from the engine into a dealer and look at a diagram to determine that (easiest way).  However, the governor may be working correctly but this indicates the carb has a blockage. As the engine RPM tries to increase, fuel demand rises, when no fuel available engine RPM drops, then governor tries to increase RPM and the cycle repeats over and over.  If this is the case, you need to use a piece of tag wire to push through all of the internal passages in the carb and follow up with aerosol carb cleaner.  Hope this helps.
