Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S Engine Craftsman 6.0 Lawn Mower, crank shaft, lawn mower

Hello Michael,

Last year I hit a small stump while mowing/mulchin autumn leaves.  Our lawn mower ran rough after that and finally have up.  My husband took it to the shop and the service guy said the crank shaft is broken and suggested that we buy a new lawn mower.  I'd like to order a replacement part and put it in.  Husband says let's just trash it.  What do you say?

p.s.  The model # is 12H802, Type # 2675E. Parts company won't open again until 8 a.m. Monday for me to verify correct part and to get a price.

Hi Brenda,

Unless the mower is very new I would hesitate to invest money, in time and parts.  Repair will be somewhat costly.  Also, due to the shock of the crankshaft damage, there may be other hidden damage that might surface later.
