Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs & Stratton wont keep running, briggs stratton, carburetor

Question
I have a Murray lawn mower with a 6.0 hp B&S motor, about 3 years old, that won't keep running. When I prime it, it will start on the first pull, but I have to keep priming it to keep it running. As soon as I stop the prime, it dies. I have taken apart the carb and blew it out with air. I also drained all of the gas out of the tank and did not find any trash. I asked a mechanic that told me he needed to soak the carb in a special cleaner.

Answer
The problem is most likely still in the carburetor.  The "special cleaner" the mechanic is talking about is just very strong carburetor cleaner available at any parts store.  The smallest continer I've seen is one gallon.  It comes in a can, just like a gallon of paint.

Berryman makes a good carb dip, but you have to remove every single plastic and rubber part on/in the carburetor.  The dip will disolve everything...I've enen seen it eat the actual aluminum the carbuertor is made of.

With that said, is your carburetor completely made of plastic?

Let me know.
