Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wireing, lawn tractors, wireing diagram

Question
I need a wireing diagram for new tecumseh
11 hp horizonal w/electric start that was put
in a 1960 sears riding lawn tractor I have no idea where to start

Answer
I wouldn't have anything that old on hand.  What I do know is that Sears did not make the tractor...some other company made the mower; usually the most commom mower company during that era.

Since there were very few safety devices on those older mowers I would recommend using a generic Chilton or Haynes repair manual...they have schematics in them.  Your local library usually has some of these manuals on hand and you can just copy the information you need.

The wiring should be very basic...battery to solenoid, other soleniod post to the starter and a key switch used to excite the solenoid post and charge the battery.

I have listed a few links that may help you.  A lot of the people on the sites are older, i.e., wiser than I am on the older tractors.  Someone may know exactly who made your tractor and may even have the factory wiring diagram.

Please let me know if you have any other questions with the wiring.  It's very easy to wire a tractor but difficult to describe.

If you want, you can let me know how many terminals your key switch  and solenoid has.  From here I may be able to be more specific on how to wire the engine.
