Snowmobile Repair: 2001 mxzx 440, engine diagrams, cycle oil

Question
hey man, me AGAIN! lol
i was wondering if you know of any sites that have engine diagrams, or things that might assist me in the future if i need info on what parts do what and so forth.  secondly, i am wondering about the check valves on the bottom of my engine. i tried to get them out, to either replace them or clean them, and i couldn't budge them.  i pulled the little hose connection off of one, but it went back in, so i think it is ok. it seems to run right now, i cleaned the actual valve that the oil feeds through into the crank, and it works alright i think.  but i would really appreciate any info on the oil feeding sytem's inner workings, and anything to be REALLY careful of.  thanks man, this site is SO awesome!

Answer
Hello Drew,

Glad it's going better with the sled! Glad you like the site, it's a work in progress. I happened to find a topic that I thought you would be interested in looking at:  http://ultimatesnowmobiler.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t2829.html  .   I'm sorry I don't have any good diagrams for the sled, the ones at Ronnie's might help a bit, http://216.37.204.202/Skidoo_OEM/Skidoo.asp?Type=12&A=398  . As far as things to be careful of, just make sure you put the parts back in the way they came out, and, a good coating of 2-cycle oil is a good idea to put on all seals, or better yet, to put CD-2 on them, as it will make them swell and seal better. The reason you had a hard time trying to get the check valves off, is because Ski-Doo applies Loctite 648 on them, to keep them in place, so it's real hard to get them off. If it's running ok, then I wouldn't worry about getting them off. Loctite recommends a small amount of heat to get them loose. Take a good look at the oil seals to make sure they don't have small cracks on the ends, that happens alot. hope this helps, sounds like you are pretty well good to go! Let me know if you have any other questions, and I will be more than happy to help! Good luck with the Doo! --Arcticatman
