Steering Column Repair: ford f-150 shifter, ford steering column, ford f 150

i was placing my truck in park and heard something like it cracked and now i cannot get into park and the arm in loose. i have to keep moving the arm to get it into reverse and drive what could cause this.

Although the example may be a different vehicle than yours, the column is identical to yours (tilt and non tilt use the same housing)
