Question
On the turn signal/high beam switch, how does the actuator rod return to make the switch work.

Answer

GM Dimmer Actuator
Hi Kevin:

I'm not real clear on what your question is, but I will try to respond to it.
The dimmer actuator rod runs from the dimmer switch mounted on the base of the column up, into the upper bowl.  There, there is a part called the dimmer actuator (picture enclosed) that rests against the rod and slides inside the upper lock cover.  The wiper switch  (which is what the turn lever plugs into) has a pivot on it that pushes the dimmer actuator up and down, moving the rod up and down into the dimmer switch.  the switch itself has the spring loaded action inside it.  Adjusted properly, the switch pushes the rod and "springs" the lever back into position when you 'hit the high beams'.

I hope this all helps
