Steering Column Repair: steering wheel repair 1995 f150, loose bolt, plastic caps

Question
how do you take the steering wheel off if it has an airbag.

Answer
Hi Gary:

first, disconnect the battery and wait 5 minutes.
Then, remove the 2 1" round black plastic caps on teach side of the steering wheel.  Behind them are 8mm bolts.  Remove those 2 bolts and the airbag will come out.  Unplug the connectors (horn and airbag connector) and you have access to the 50 torx bolt that holds the steering wheel on.  Loosen it, don;t remove it yet.  Then wobble the wheel forcefully from side to side (or use a puller) until it jumps back and hits the loose bolt.  Then remove the bolt and the steering wheel.
