Steering Column Repair: 2003 Steering Column, dodge grand caravan, turn signal switch

Question
QUESTION: Doug
I just replaced my turn signal switch, when making a right hand turn the blinker will not shut off I noticed some type of cam behind the switch, it seems to be broken. Do you know what the name of this item is and if it is a dealer part?

Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Bill:
I need to know the make & model vehicle you are working on before I can respond appropriately
Thanks
Doug

QUESTION: Sorry Doug, I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan. It looks like a cam of some kind mounted to the back of the clock spring.

Answer
Multiswitch
Multiswitch
Hi Bill:
I believe the part you are talking about is part of the clockspring.  I am not remembering anything else that comes separate between the upper shaft & clockspring.  Usually though, it's the switch itself that has a broken spring inside that causes one side to cancel & not the other.  Check it by hand in both directions and see if it reacts similarly when you engage a left turn and a right turn and then attempt to cancel it by holding it and triggering the little lever yourself in both directions.
I am enclosing a picture of the part I am talking about
Good luck
Doug
