Steering Column Repair: 86 s10 blazer turn signal cam, s10 blazer, needlenose pliers

Question
Hello,
I had to replace my ignition switch and turn signal on my 1986 s10 blazer.  When I took off the steering wheel there where 2 little sliver metal clips laying in the bottom of the column.  I tried to figure out where they go, but can not find it.  I have installed the new pieces, and just to see if it would work without these clips, put everything back together.  The turn signal lever is very sensitive, and does not "click" into place, or return after you turn.  Could you please tell me where these clips go?

Answer
Hello Harley,
Those clips are part of the turn signal centering mechanism. Take a careful look at the switch assembly and you should be able to tell where they contact. It's a matter of some needlenose pliers and fitting the springs back in their slots.

Hope that helps.
Have a great day!
