Subaru Repair: 1998 Outback Wagon Ltd: Wont Start when rains, Subaru wont start

Question
We began having trouble with acceleration about 2 years ago, but would let it warm up and car would work fine. After about 2 days of rain, today it will not engage at all. The starter works fine, battery turns over fine, but sparks won't catch. Is it dead, or can it be fixed?

Answer
Yvonne,

Of course it can be fixed, but the only way it will happen is for someone familiar to Subaru does a thorough diagnoses.

A couple of points in terms to help you better explain the symptoms.

The battery provides electrical current to the starter which in turn turns over or "cranks" the engine until the air-fuel mixture is ignited in the combustion chamber causing an explosion and the car runs.

If it turns over and fails to start it is either missing spark,air- fuel, compression or the ability to breathe.
