Subaru Repair: Auto trans, H6, 2003 Outback, accelerator pedal, dangerous power

Question
When accelerating fairly hard from 10 to 40 kM/H, the auto trans kicks down 1 or 2 gears, this takes several car lengths to do so.
Sometimes when you want to get out of the way of other cars, this changing down of gears can be quite dangerous.
Power is good, no trans noise, car has done 60,000kM, Problem has occurred since new.
Is a software upgrade possible to reduce the gear kick down a bit?
Thanks
Rod

Answer
Are you saying you want it to kick down less or more? There isn't a real reflash available .But you can always take control of your shift points yourself by operating the shift lever from 4th to 3rd and so on with less accelerator pedal applied as well.

I hope that helps
