Subaru Repair: Trans leak and binding when cornering, viscous coupler, wheel bearing

Question
I have a '97 outback with 140,000 miles.  On and off when I park or otherwise crank the wheel it seems to bind up, especially on gravel or loose surfaces.  Also, I recently have noticed a small transmission leak...could these things be related?  Should I go to a transmission mechanic first or just the dealer?  Thank you!

Answer
If it is an automatic transmission You are experiencing transfer clutch binding. If the atf temp light is not flashing the situation may be resolved with a Trans flush and a additive. If the atf light is flashing then there is a possibility that a sensor or solenoid  has failed. If its is A manual Trans then you may have lost the viscous coupler.Lastly a wheel bearing and hub assembly that has excessive play can give you some of the same symtoms. If there is no independent Subaru repair shop in your area then i would probably recommend the dealer.
