Towing Issues: Towing ability, grand cherokee jeep, car hauler trailer

Question
We have a 1997 Grand Cherokee jeep, with a class 3 hitch. We just had a transmission cooler installed on it. Will we be able to safely pull a Jayco Jay Feather Exp., dry wt. 3,565 lbs., length 20'2". Do we need to use a sway bar? Thanks for your time & consideration in this matter.

Answer
First of all be careful and even the weight as you load your trailer. Try not to load to much in the back of the Jeep. You would need to attach the trailer to the jeep empty and make sure it's level (the back of the Jeep should stay level, AKA tongue level. (check the hitch for tongue weight) Safety chains are a must. You failed to say how old the trailer is, the use of a sway bar depends on this, since the newer trailers have built in safety feature for this. I am thinking at this size it does have tandem axles? As I said before, the way you balance the weight when loading is most important for safety. The majority of the we are called to the interstate to recover a utility / car hauler trailer, the balance of the contents & weight played a huge part. I hope this was helpful.
