Towing Issues: Transferring title to tow company, worse case scenario, tow company

Question
I recently tried to donate my car after i left Jacksonville Fl, however the property manager ended up having the car towed before the donation agency could arrange to have it picked up.  i would rather the tow company just keep the car now than pay the fee (~$1,000) and have it picked up by the donation agency.  the tow company says the car is going up for auction.  just wondering how to wash my hands of the vehicle without incurring any additional fees / headache.  i would transfer title, but i already sent the signed title to the donantion agency (having trouble getting this back, besides it has their information on it now).  this may sound naive, but is it possible to get another replacement title (would be 2nd time in 4 months - car is registered in maryland)? or preferrably, could i just let the tow agency auction the car (they are not looking for any compensation unless i want to pick it up).  my concern is that worse case scenario a new owner could get in an accident and the car is still registered to me.  if the car is auctioned without title (possible?) does the sale constitute an effective transfer of ownership (i.e. once it is sold, do i need to worry about anything?).  Thanks in advance for your response.

Answer
Well this issue has some points which are going to make it complicated...
First of all the vehicle was towed in Florida which is one state which has laws that towed vehicles not picked up and paid for, have the tow company able to notify DMV about it and either your drivers license or vehicle licenses suspended till the fees are paid...

Now the title paperwork from Maryland being signed over to the donation agency does make it harder to do anything. Specially with them being the "owner" at that time...

Now as to getting a clear title, the tow company will file paperwork with the state and get a "lien title" which is basically a clear title to the vehicle.

Then they could do what ever the want, sell it or scrap it.

As to you worrying about anything, well you need to be worried about collection agencies coming after the towing and storage fees owed.
