Towing Issues: Car towed by city property stolen during the process, small claims court, property inventory

My car rental was towed due to a disconnect between myself and the rental agency. A police officer had it towed as it was reported stolen by the rental agency. I watch the vehicle be towed away with all my contents most of which were missing when I went to reclaim them at the rental agency, which was waiting for me to arrive with the keys so they could open the vehicle.

sounds like you are hoping that the police officer did a property inventory of the vehicle so that you can prove that things are missing...

Otherwise it is a "he says, they say" issue which is really hard to prove...

Small claims court is about the only option I see here, but then the proof of the items being in the vehicle is the key, and it most likely will be hard to prove...

Sorry but I really do not have much advise here.
