Towing Issues: Towing, city police departments, dormatory

Question
If you are parked on a street and there are no signs aroudn that say you CANNOT park there, can you be towed?  My son parked on a street and entered a dormatory where there were supposedly sigsn posted (which he did not see).  No one said he couldn't park on the street and there were no signs on the street.  When he went to leave, his car was gone.  Is this legal?  It cost him $135 to get it out.

Answer
well as a rule, street parking is controlled and regulated by the city police departments (or college security since you mentioned dormitory)...

Signs do not have to be on each pole or every 20 feet, sometime 1 sign per block is all that is posted.

Now without knowing where it happened I can not say much, but it sounds like the police department had it towed for a "no parking" violation...

Is it legal, well again I was not there, I did not see the street or signs or anything like that, so I can not really tell you yes or no...

But from what you say, and what I know about general police towing, it sounds like it was legal...
