Towing Issues: towed vehicle from police for suspended license, traffic court, responsiblity

Question
I was arrested last week.  The police towed my vehicle because in their computer system, it showed that my license was still suspended.  I had already paid my ticket and called the court as directed by my notice.  The woman on the phone said I'm good to go, but I ended up paying $500 to get my vehicle back.  This is such bullcrap!  Why did I pay my $700 ticket to still have to pay another $500?  The police said it was my responsiblity to have this settled.  But I did everything I was supposed to.  I called the Traffic Court, and they told me that a lot of times, the Dept. of Revenue where I paid my ticket don't always inform the courts right away, so they're not able to inform the DMV.  WTF!  I think I deserve my money back.  Why should I suffer because someone's too lazy to do their paperwork in their cubicle.  Please help!

Answer
Well as much as I hate to say it, as long as humans are doing something there is the chance for problems to happen...

This is the classic problem with way to many government agencies involved in things.  Things get misplaced or done wrong. You can see this in your problem.

Now I think you have a ticket for when you got arrested and had the vehicle towed. This means you will get in front of a judge as some point. Be sure to have all the paperwork on this, showing you paid, you got towed, and you paid the fines after the mistake. You should be able to get the judge to rule on this and get it resolved.

I am sorry that I do not have specific information, but its one of those issues which you have to go though the process and get it done one step at a time.
