Towing Issues: illegal tow for public hazard, small claims court, tow company

Question
The Irvine sheriff's had my car towed when parked for less than 2 days on a residential street and called it's flat tire a "public hazard" VC 22669d as grounds to tow it.Is that true?  Also can a tow company start a lien sale after only 4 days with knowledge the owner's picking it up with full fees that day.

Answer
well I looked at it and I believe it is a "STRETCH" for a flat to be a public hazard but I have heard funnier things...

Now as to the lien paperwork, the laws specify how soon after it is towed to be started so that it is legal... Other wise it sounds as if it was one of those "gray area" tows by the sheriff...
The reason that I say that is that at times the officer "interprets" the regulations differently than another officer would... That does create problems..

Now all I can say is that you can talk to the sheriffs office and see what if anything you can do about the tow. Or you have the option of small claims court.
