Towing Issues: towing w/4cyl, toyota web, toyota matrix

Question
QUESTION: Can I use a Toyota matrix 1.8L 4cyl to tow even a small amount of weight? Say 300Lbs? will it tow any wright at all?
Thanks

ANSWER: Why is it I get questions that are easy to find out in Owners Manuals or asking the dealers... This is not my area of expertise, but I will provide you what I found looking around online.

First of all, in looking at the Toyota Web site and checking out the specifications of the vehicle, I see no towing capacity specifications AT ALL...  I guess that means that Toyota does not recommend it for towing anything at all..

Next up in your question, you want to tow 300 pounds,  I hate to say it but most trailer weight is more than 300 pounds...  So you would have a minimum of say 600 pounds that you would be towing.  And the curb weight (that is how much it weighs sitting still full of gas) is between 2679 and 2742 pounds...

I hate to say it but I do not believe that you can do what you want to do with the vehicle... BUT since I am not an expert (I deal with towing wrecked and broke down vehicles)on towing trailers with cars and pickups, you might not have the answer you want.

QUESTION: I know the Toyota site does not rate it for towing at all but I though maybe it could tow a little. Like those little campers a motorcycle can tow.
Thanks

Answer
I really have no answer for this at all...  If I can not find a rating, then it looks like its not able to tow anything...

Check out the dealership where you bought it as they might have some answers... I really can not provide what I do not know answers for since it is out of my expertise area...

Sorry
