QUESTION: My car was voluntarily repossessed (because I was sick and could not work) and the car bounced until it was out of my site(several blocks).  I am now being sued by the lender because a car with a blue book value of 12000.00 only sold for $1400.00 at auction.  The lender has thus far refused to turn over the condition report of the car and I am trying to find out what types of things to look for when I finally get it.  It is my belief that the car was severely damaged and for this reason sold for such a low amount.  The car only had 74000 miles on it.

Answer
Well this does sound strange to me, if the vehicle was voluntarily repossessed then they would have keys and should of been able to hook up correctly..

Now as to the value of the vehicle and what it sells for at auction, that is something that is very common... People do not to pay for anything and as such the low prices are common on lots of auction vehicles...
Now if you want the vehicle back (its been sold by the finance company I believe you said) then you can go to the buying dealer and get it back by buying it again.

But you also say that you believe it was severely damaged and that would be something to consider before buying.
You do not want to buy something that is going to cost you more money than its really worth...
