Towing Issues: towing before 24hrs, construction crew, sewer line

Question
hello -- Monday I parked my motorhome on a deserted back street in San Diego at about 8 am. Although I thought that Moonbeam was legal for 72 hours, I returned the next day (Tuesday) at 11 am just to check on her and found that she had been towed.  A construction company had put up "no parking 7a-5p" signs at approx 11am Monday (three hours after I parked there).  They had Moonbeam towed away at 8am.  I paid to get Moonbean out of stir.  What are my chances of collecting the $300 tow bill from the construction company?

(It doesn't make sense to me that we have a 72 hour parking limit but anytime during that period a no-parking notice can be placed and the vehicle can be taken.)

Thanks for your expertise.  Sincerely, Rosalie

Answer
well lets see, parked a vehicle on a street and it turned out to have construction crew showed up.  Well if they posted the signs after it was parked, that is not something that legally you will be able to fight much... They do this kind of stuff all the time as road paving, sewer line work, all that is sometimes not scheduled.
You do know that most construction companies when working on City streets have the authority to have vehicles moved at either their expense or the police will cite the vehicle and have it towed.

Now in San Diego, I am not sure but there might be something like a towing board of review, or city department where they review tows which are done and people think they were wrongfully towed.
Collecting from the construction company, hate to say it but think the odds are long on that happening.

Most cities may allow for 72 hour parking on street, but there is usually a provision there that says if it does not move in 24 hours it gets towed. Reason for the 72 hour is weekends.

Sorry but I think this is counted as an expensive lesson.
