Toyota Repair: Toyota Tacoma, fuse panel, d drive

Ted, I own a 02 Tacoma 3.4 ENG automatic quad cab. The light on my shifter column and dashboard have gone off or burned. I have a hard time telling if I'm on (D)drive or 3rd gear during the night. Can you help?

Hello, check to see if the tail lights are working,if not replace the "tail" fuse on the inside fuse panel, both the tail lights and the instrument illumination are on this same fuse. If thats not the problem make sure the dimmer for the dash is not turned off.
