Toyota Repair: fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuse box

Question
QUESTION: Hi.  Where is the fuel pump relay or fuse on a 2005 Matrix? I don't seem to be getting power to the pump.  There is one live wire (constant on regardless of whether the key is on or not) and when I turn the key to the on position or not no other wire becomes live.  Thanks, any suggestions would be appreciated.  -Dave

ANSWER: Check the engine compartment.  There is a fuse box in there; the fuses are labeled.  It may not be your fuel pump.  Check other fuses / relays that control the engine.

QUESTION: Thank you.  I'll go through all of them again.  At the connection to the fuel pump please confirm that I should have a second live lead when the key is in the on position. At this time there is only the one live wire that is always on. When I turn the key to the start position no other wire becomes live which leads me to belive the pump isn't getting power. Thanks again.

Answer
One line is your "hot" the other is your "neutral".  The hot is the power to the pump, the neutral is the completion of the circuit.  If you have a live wire to the pump, you are getting power to the pump.  Check the voltage.  Does the pump spin. There may be a problem with your injectors, ignition, ECU, etc.

Hope this helps.
