Toyota Repair: FJ Cruiser maintaince light, odometer reading, warning light

Question
Hi Ted

I have a 2008 FJ Cruiser that I purchased new in Jan.08
I have 7500 miles on the vehicle and have changed the oil every 3000 miles. About a week ago when I started the car the MAINT REQD warning lamp flashed for several seconds.
Now the warning light stays on when I start the car.
I checked the manual and it says that the oil should be changed. Is this correct? I only have 1500 miles on the oil and I replace the filter with the oil changes.
Thanks for your help.

Vinny

Answer
You just need to reset the warning light, turn the ignition on and make sure the odometer reading is at ODO, locate the trip reset button on the dash, push and hold the button in and turn the key off, make sure all displays go dark, do not release the button, turn the key back on, the odometer and/or the maint req light should start flashing, when they stop flashing and the odometer numbers come back release the button, if this doesn't work let me know.
