Toyota Repair: Toyota camry le 2000 transmission, toyota camry, stick shift

Question
Hi,

I own a camry LE 2000 (v4 2.2 liter). I felt today that when I tried to change stick shift from P to D at a parking lot, the stick shift required more power and the stick shift was felt very tight. During driving, there was no feeling of weird change of transmission. Is it normal?
Do I need to change the transmission oil to loosen the tightness of the stick shift? My mileage is around 67200 miles but I didnot change any transmission oil and flush sevice.

Answer
Your automatic transmission is placed into gear through linkage that leads and attaches to a shifting arm on the transmission. You need to visually inspect the area and see if there's something blocking the movement of this lever. Your transmission fluid can cause your trans to operate poorly. I always recommend that your trans is flushed at least every 30,000 miles.
