Toyota Repair: 95 camry, negative battery cable, exhaust gas recirculation

Question
QUESTION: Where do I check the code for the check engine light and how do I find a list of the codes. Thanks

ANSWER: Lpcate the diagnostic check connector under the hood, open the cover and place a jumper wire between the terminals TE1 and E1, with the key on the check engoine light will start flashing giving the code, it's a two digit code,  two blinks of the light followed by one, for example would be a code 21 and so on. When you know the code post a follow up and I'll tell you what it means and how to diagnose.

QUESTION: Looks like a 71   is there a web site where I can download the error codes? Thank you very much for your help

Answer
The #71code indicates an EGR system malfunction, in most cases the egr(exhaust gas recirculation)modulator valve is the problem, it's located on the egr valve, it's a round plastic valve with three vacuum hoses attached to it, try replacing it and clear the code by disconnecting the negative battery cable then see what happens, if the code comes back let me know.
