Toyota Repair: Maint Reqd Light, mile oil change, drain interval

I recently purchased a 2004 Highlander. I flushed the engine and switched the oil and oil filter to Amsoil. The Maint Reqd light came on as a reminder that the 5,000 mile oil change was due. Now that I'm using an extended drain interval product, how and where do I reset the Maint Reqd light? My neighbor's 2005 Camry has the same problem since I changed her oil for her. Any ideas?

hi will, the maint req light is generated from the ecu and it is based on the driving habits of the driver.  as you know, it comes on about every 5k mi.  to reset it, follow these steps....key off, hold down the trip-reset button on the instrument cluster, while holding it down, turn the ignition switch to the 'on' position, you will see '-------' flashing in the odometer window.  when it completes flashing (approx 5 seconds), '00000000' will appear. your done!! both, the highlander and the camry use the same procedure to reset the light.
