Toyota Repair: camry 2001 vibrations at idle, engine vibrations, car brakes

Question
Hi there,

I recently bought a 2001 camry LE with auto transmission at 71000 miles. the car has been very well maintained .... all maintenance done at dealer. just after i bought it, i started feeling vibration at idle when i stop at the red light.

here is the status of the car.

Brakes - never replaced; at 61000 miles, the pad life left was 6mm for front and 4 mm for rear.
Spark plugs changed at 61000 miles.
All regular maintenanace done timly

The vibrations i feel some times are in the steering wheel and some times in the body and seat, some times both. its not a whole lot but it still bothers me. the vibrations are only in drive, reverse and neutral gear and are less (or not) in parking.

what could be the reason. I want to know before going to the dealer. are engine mounts supposed to go bad in 6 yrs or 71000 miles? i would again like to mention that the previous owner used to drive very nicely and cautiously.

thanks in advance

what could be the approx cost of fixing?

Answer
The only way engine vibrations are transmitted to the rest of the car if there is a motor mount problem, the motor mounts are supposed to absorb normal engine vibrations, if there is direct contact between the motor mount and the frame then there will be vibration, in most cases the front motor mount near the radiator and the link mount on the left front fender are the cause, I would also have it checked carefully for any signs of frame damage or misalignment that may have been caused in an accident, also check to make sure that none of the exhaust parts are touching the body or frame.
