Toyota Repair: oil leak, valve cover gasket, toyota tercel

Question
I'm glad you like a challenge cause I've got a good one for you.  I have an 1985 toyota tercel station wagon 4wd that has on oil leak on the left *or drivers side)side of the motor.  My husband has replaced the oil pan gasket, and valve cover gasket and has very carefully checked the oil filter and oil sending unit to try to find the leak to no avail.  It's not leaking bad just a few drops and it's dripping onto the steering and then onto the ground.  Any ideas.  The motor in it is either a 3A or 3AC dont' remember which.  Please help.

Answer
#1. Are you certain it is engine oil? Many lubricants can appear to be engine oil but I will entertain the option that it is engine oil. Is the front engine oil seal leaking? I would double check the application of the oil filter and make sure there is no "double o Rings" causing the leak. If your husband has changed the pan gasket and valve cover gaskets, I would imagine he changed them because of an excessive oil leak. The drips you are still finding could be residual drops slowly draining off the chassis of the car. In that case I would continue to monitor the progress and see if it dripping less and less each day.
