Toyota Repair: 1993 toyota pickup 22re 4x4 wont run right?, throttle position sensor, toyota pickup

Question
Hello,
Let me first say thanks for any and all assistance you can lend its very much appreciated. The problem I have is I bought a 1993 22re 4x4 with no ecu in it. I did some reaseach and got myself the correct ecu (89661 35830). The truck will start and it runs for about 3-4sec then stumbles and dies. I have read about others that asked the same thing and you have advised them to check there open circuit relay. I can't find it I pulled the whole side down and found nothing more than the relay that controls the blower motor and the fuse below it labled heater. I have though been able to get it running or shall I say idle by simply propping the afm open with a screwdriver. I can't really get anything more than an idle though. I swapped out the afm from another running truck and the same problem occurred I even put the original afm on the other truck and it again ran great? Do you have any ideas on where I go now? It seems to idle great and sounds good no smoking and the cat isnt flaming? Thanks again, Kris

Answer
I would check your EGR. This opperates when the engine is cold. Secondly, disconnect your Throttle position sensor and see if it runs. Lastly, do you know how to check codes? Just because the converter isnt flaming, you cannot possibly get the truck warm enough in 3-4 seconds to see if the exhaust is plugged (Converter). You can just disconnect the exhaust manifold flange to check this out. This is a no cost diagnostic menu. Feel free to ask if more help is needed.
