Toyota Repair: truck wont idle correctly, upper radiator hose, air pockets

Question
Hello,
I recently changed the antifreeze in my 92 toyota base model pu, 22RE no ac or pwr steering and now the engine is heating up above normal and revs up and down continuously at idle. Could it be that there is air trapped in the system with a sensor not getting any water to it? My truck ran fine before changing the water.

Thanks for any help you can offer,
Mike

Answer
Yes that is exactly what is happening, there are some air pockets in the system which will eventually come out. When the engine has cooled off remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator and pour coolant directly into the hose this should let most of the air out, pour the coolant in slowly, this may take a while, when the air bubbles stop reconnect it and start the engine, if the problem persists repeat the above procedure, there is nothing else wrong, you just need to get all the air out.
