Toyota Repair: tire pressure, 4x4 toyotas, toyota 4x4

Question
Hi I have a 93 toyota 4x4 reg cab.  Stock tires are 225/15 and on the placard by the door says 26 psi for front tires and 35psi for the rear. I have winter tires on now and are 235/15 the tire shop put 32psi in front and rear. Should I have what the placard says 26 front and 35 rear. What is the reasoning for more tire pressure in the rear when the rear is lighter?

Answer
I think the reasoning may be that cargo may be carried in the rear, the tires will have a maximum recommended inflation pressure imprinted on the sidewall, I have owned several 4x4 toyotas and always kept the pressures 36-40psi in all the tires, start with 36 psi and see how they wear after about 3000 miles, if they wear more in the center let the pressure down to 32, if they wear more on the outside edges the pressure is too low and I would increase to 40, don't forget to rotate the tires front to rear at least every 5000 miles.
