Toyota Repair: 1992 Toyota Camry wont start, coolant temp, toyota camry

Question
Had number one cylinder up,timing checked out close, has fire to plugs, gets gas, turns over but does not hit at all.

Answer
Kelly,

I have run into this before. Two possible things. First, check to see if you have any diagnostic codes for no IGF signal.  If the Toyota computer does not recieve this signal indicating a spark occured it shuts off the fuel injector pulse after a few crankshaft rotations.

The second possible cause would be getting too much fuel. Have you pulled the spark plugs to see if they are fuel soaked after cranking?  A wet plug won't fire. If the coolant temp sensor is shorted or bad it will add way to much fuel on cranking and flood the engine out. Unlike an American car full throttle does not put it into "clear flooding mode".

Hope that helps some.
