Toyota Repair: brake and battery light are on, intermittent problem, toyota pickup

I have a 1992 toyota pickup that i have just cleaned the engine in and ever since then my parking brake light and battery light are on. I have cleaned the engine before and this did not happen. I was wandering if in the process this time i may have shorted something.

This normally happens when the alternator stops charging the battery, may be a coincedence or maybe the water and cleaning agents getting into the alternator which may have been on it's way out anyway, caused it to now fail, anyway, the solution is to replace the alternator, just to be sure you can have it tested at most Kragen,Autozone stores at no charge but keep in mind that it can be an intermittent problem.
