Toyota Repair: 2002 RAV4 Tranny Leak, retainer plate, bearing retainer

Question
My wife's 2002 AWD RAV4 started leaking tranny fluid from the rear of the tranny housing.  Appears to be coming from where the front shaft inserts into the collar shaped part of the housing directly above what appears to be some sort of "skidplate/bumpstop" device to protect the area.  Questions are:
What's the most likely cause? (seal back there?)
Rough idea in terms of hours and/or cost to fix? (Assuming this is not a DIY type fix for the average home mechanic?)
Thank you

Answer
Ive seen them leak from the bearing retainer plate on the trans. Ive also seen quite a few leak from the front seal of the trans.
You may still be under warranty, depending on mileage.
Give a phone call to the dealer and see what they say.
Not a Do-it-yourself job.
