Toyota Repair: Toyota cd player, e mail address, toyota dealer

Question
First, please don't publish my e-mail address or give my e-mail address out to anyone - if this is necessary, please delete the entire exchange. Thanks very much.

Can you advise me - our 1999 Camry has an all in one am-fm/cd/cassette "double height" unit, very nice. But the cd skips mostly on early tracks (1 - 5). It's basically unusable due to this. The dealer once said they wanted $300 for a new or rebuilt unit. Is there a much more cost effective way to rectify this - the unit has done this since it was in its first year but I neglected to bring it in under the bumper to bumper period (1 year) because I made the mistake of thinking it was covered for 3. Advice would be appreciated greatly. Thank you.

Answer
Actually the CD player/radio was covered for 3yrs/36,000 miles but that is irrelevant at this point, the best advice I can give is to have the toyota dealer send it into the authorized repair facility to repair it or just have an aftermarket unit installed.
